They Paved Paradise to put up a Parking Lot

“Do you know what you did wro…incorrectly?”

“Ah…well…I panicked.”

“We’re in a parking lot, Charlotte.  No hurry…no traffic.  Just an exercise in parking the street sweeper…no need to panic…it’s just parking.”

“I am so, so, sorry.  I…didn’t see the cement…thing.  Did I hurt the truck, sir?  You gonna flunk me, sir?”

“Okay, Charlotte.  The concrete bumper or…wheel stop, is designed to STOP the vehicle from going further.  Who hasn’t run over one in their lifetime?  Good news…the truck will live.”

“Oh, thank you…”

“Couple things to do:  Call Dispatch.  Complete Accident Report…include the dead cat under the left wheel.”

Aww… Poor kitty! Funny story and great response to the prompt.

  2. Doobster418 says:

I’ve run over those damn wheel stops a couple of time…but in a car, not a street sweeper.

  3. Y. Zheng says:

Ooh, ouch poor cat. I think I would probably quit driving after this if it were me. Good one. 🙂

  4. kirizar says:

Hahahahahahahah. Dead Cat (Laughing while typing.) I am so going to hell for finding this funny.

    • Lucy says:

You and me both. A fellow blogger recently lost his cat. I hope he doesn’t read this story. Thanks for being just as strange as I am. Lucy

  5. rgayer55 says:

When I first saw the photo, I thought of this song too (your title). Where did she get her license, Cracker Jacks? The truck will live. The cat–not so lucky.

  6. Kate Loveton says:

Good thing cats have nine lives… hope this wasn’t his last. 😉

  7. I assume there is a reason that drivers licenses is no longer available in cereal packages.. At least the cats think so.

    • Lucy says:

Just about all the members of my family had car accidents avoiding running over cats. I’m a much better driver. You know, Florida is the land of the retired. Nothing like seeing a big caddy with only the top of the white hair of a 90 year old lady coming at you on the road. Thanks for coming by. Lucy

  8. Dear Lucy,

I love that song. Cute story.

  9. Nan Falkner says:

Dear Lucy, Great story and I think the cat has used all of it’s 9 lives. Poor kitty! Cute tale! Nan 🙂

  10. Lucy, Well, it looks like Charlotte just wiped out all nine lives of that cat in one fell swoop. Amusing story, and well written. I gave up driving when we moved to India. I value my life too much. 🙂 —Susan

    • Lucy says:

Thank you. I don’t drive anymore, either, but only because I got sick of taking care of cars. Albuquerque had great public transportation but here in Florida it stinks. You would think they would have great public transport in a state full of retired people. Thanks, again. I hated to kill off the cat. Then again, it’s just fiction. Lucy

    Funny…even though I’m a cat lover.

Seriously, tell me what you think
